I wanted something on my table as a centerpiece at Christmas time. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, and I had had some friends give me three boxes full of Mason jars. Some were antique which was fun. So, when I was thinking about what I could use for my centerpiece that is what my mind rested on.
I filled the Mason jar up with sand which we had on hand from the garage. I tied some red ribbon I had already around the mouth of each jar. I went to the store and bought red votive candles for $1 each and placed each candle down into the sand inside of the Mason jar. So, my centerpiece costs me two dollars.
For Easter, I wanted to go a little bit more pastel so I chose the color pink. I bought some pink votive candles. I also found some cross ribbon and pink self-adhesive jewels to put on the ribbon. Madison and I decorated the cross ribbon by putting one pink jewel on each point of the cross. I think it came out really cute as candle votive holders for my centerpiece and all for under $5.
This idea is so versatile. For your July 4th get together, you could put in a red candle with a blue or striped ribbon. You could use colors to match your birthday party such as a white candle with a black ribbon for a fortieth birthday. Use your imagination and have fun with it.
