The Cross Eyed Blog is One Year Old Today

It is hard to believe, but one year ago on this very day, I wrote my first blog entitled, “Just Stretch”.  It was so good to go back and read that first blog to remember where I started.  This blog has been a blessing to me.  So many people have written who have been encouraged or learned something new.  It is my desire to be a blessing and not a curse to those who read what is written here.

Writing this blog has come with it’s challenges too.  To give up hours of my week every week has been a challenge at times, but I want you to know that God is a good God.  I know He is at work here, and I hope it shows.  I cannot stress to you enough how much God confirmed and guided me along the way.  There were some weeks when I knew way before what I was going to write about.  There were some weeks when I might have two ideas.  There were some weeks when I had no idea what I was going to write about at all.  Sometimes, there were times when I would be between two different ideas, and I would go to church.  The pastor would be talking about or quoting exactly the verses I was going to use for one of my ideas.  I then had confirmation on which one to write about.  One time I went to sleep on a Sunday night knowing exactly what I was going to write.  However, I had a dream that night.  When I woke up, the whole blog was in my head already written, but on a totally different subject.  I know that my God is not a God of coincidence so I can only hope and pray the subjects of the blogs met someone right where they were on that day.

In October of last year I wrote a blog called, “You’re Beautiful”.  In the blog, I talked about how Satan would love nothing more than for us to believe lies and untruths about ourselves.  Every time I got into the car at that time, the song Beautiful would come on by Mercy Me.  I felt God was speaking to me to tell me that He thought I was beautiful and to not believe the lies that Satan or the world were trying to feed me.  As a confirmation to write the blog, I had prayed one last time for God to speak to me.  I asked that I would hear the song Beautiful when I got into the car as a confirmation to write the blog about lies.  I got in the car and the next song that came on the radio when I got into the car was none other than Beautiful.  Well, the day after I wrote the blog, I got an email from a friend.  She said she had been having a rough week, and she had read my blog before she left work that day.  As she left work she prayed, “OK God, I need a word from you today.  I pray that the first song I hear when I get into the car will be exactly what you want me to hear today.”  She got into the car and commercials were playing.  Then, the first song that came on was none other than Beautiful.  It was a confirmation to her to not believe the lies, but to live in the truth of God.  God is at work all around us if we will just take the time to stop and listen.

It has been a privilege to write and express myself through words.  It has been a privilege to receive all the emails and encouragement to keep going.  There are times, if I am honest, that I think what am I doing!  But as long as God continues to point me in this direction, I will keep pressing on “toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Jesus Christ.” Philippians 3:14, NKJV.  Here’s to 52 written blogs and to 52 more.  Here’s to another year of seeing what God can do in spite of me.  God bless you each and every one.

“Let them know that it is your hand, that you O Lord, have done it.”  Psalm 109:27, NIV

Thank you for your obedience and for sharing part of your week by writing this blog for us. This past year, it's been such a treat to get an email once a week from you. It makes the miles you live from us not seem so very far at all. Your honest, open views on life have blessed me and some weeks convicted me on a subject I am sure He wanted me to think about. So thanks and may He continue to bless you with ideas so you can encourage us all. Looking forward to the next 52 weeks!! 😉 Sarah
