I got this recipe from my mom years ago. These sweet, buttery dumplings are so delicious and are made with such simple ingredients. It is no wonder it is definitely a keeper recipe in our family.
Ingredients
- 1 package 8 crescent rolls
- Cinnamon
- 1 Granny Smith apple
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup apple juice
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place butter in an 8 x 10 pan and place pan in oven while oven is preheating to melt the butter. Core, peel, and slice apple into 8 equal pieces. Separate rolls and sprinkle each with cinnamon. Place one apple slice on the wide end of each crescent roll. Roll the apple up in the crescent roll rolling from the wide end up to the point. When butter is melted and oven is preheated, place crescent rolls seam side down in the melted butter. Now here is the really good part. Spoon the butter over the rolls. Combine apple juice and brown sugar. Pour juice over rolls. Bake for approximately 20-30 minutes or until browned. I usually baste my rolls once or twice during cooking.

To double, use the following recipe:
2 packages of 8 crescent rolls
Cinnamon
2 Granny Smith apples
1 1/2 sticks of butter
1 1/2 cups apple juice
3/4 cup brown sugar
Proceed with the recipe as stated above except use a 13 x 9 pan instead of an 8 x 10 pan.
