My blog usually includes encouraging words, a tip or two, or what I feel God is convicting me of at that time. This blog will be a little bit different. It is a couple of requests for prayer for our family this week. I would really appreciate it.
A co-worker recently had a child who had to have their tonsils and adenoids removed. As I listened to all of the symptoms her child had, I couldn’t help but think of my daughter, Lauren, as she talked. My daughter had all of those symptoms.
Some of the symptoms she had were being a mouth breather when she sleeps, extending her neck with her chin up, and inclining her pillow when she sleeps. The reason they do this is to get more oxygen.
Last year when we went on vacation, the kids and I thought it was funny to take a picture of her when she slept.

It is a symptom that they are not getting enough air and so have to extend their esophagus to be able to get enough air flow. There were many other symptoms, but it was enough to get me into an ENT to have her looked at. Her tonsils looked OK, but her adenoids were enlarged to the point they are blocking at least 70% of her nasal passages and her nasal passages are very small.
So, she is scheduled to go in this Thursday for an outpatient surgery to have her nasal passages enlarged and her adenoids removed. The doctor said he would look at the tonsils again when he had her under anesthesia to see how they looked, but it is not his plan to take those out at this time unless he sees something concerning when he looks at them on Thursday.
I am requesting prayer for my baby that her surgery will go well and that God’s hand will be on her. I ask for your prayer for her recovery and also strength for us as parents in taking care of her.
