What I Am Thankful For

I am thankful for my husband who is my best friend.  He adores me and wants to be with me when we are apart.  He is such a good husband and dad.  When I am burning the candle at both ends, he always asks if he can help.  He is a hard worker and works hard to provide for our family.  I feel enormously blessed by God to have him as my soul mate.

I am thankful for fertility and for the blessing of my three children.  The love I feel for them is inexpressible.  There are definitely days where I want to wring their necks.  There are days I want to  put a brick on their heads, because they are costing me a fortune in clothes.  No matter what happens though, they know I love them.  They are truly a gift from God.

I am thankful to still have my mother and to have a good relationship with her.  She is such a well of great wisdom and knowledge.  I like to call her if I have a cooking question or a shopping question or a whole myriad of other questions.  She is still the person I want to call when I am sick.  Mom always makes you feel better when you are sick, right?

I am thankful for my in-laws and love them dearly.  It is always a joy to be around them.  We have fun together and laugh and just plain have good family times.  I have known many people who really have rocky relationships with their in-laws so I know how much of a blessing it is.  To have your husband’s family feel like your family is a true blessing.

I am thankful for newer friendships which are a blessing to me and for older friendships which I hold near and dear to my heart.  I am so thankful for friends who are real, friends who are a safe place to fall, and friends whom I like to call “my soul friends”.  I am so thankful for each and every one.

I have to reluctantly say that I am thankful for my dog, Scout.  I will admit that I have a love/hate relationship with my dog.  I do love her more than I hate her.  Scout is a true marvel to me of how God made her a hunter naturally.  How she points and how fast she runs are a true marvel to me.  I love to watch her point and chase squirrels or frolic with the deer.  She is really fun to watch.

I am thankful for mushrooms.  Well, only if that mushroom is mine!  I am thankful for our family.  I want to be the best wife I can be and the best mom I can be at all times, but it is not always possible.  I get burned out or tired or selfish, and I don’t do such a good job.  But in the end, I want them all to know they were loved and that I am so thankful for them.  What a great time to remind everyone how truly thankful we are for them.
I am thankful most of all for Jesus Christ.  It is only by His blessing that I have what I have.  It is only by His grace and sacrifice that I am here writing this blog to you today.  I am a sinner saved by grace  through faith in Jesus Christ, and for that I am eternally grateful!
