How To Make Fry Sauce

It’s time for another mom tip! I am so thankful for all of my friends and my family who have given me wisdom and advice over the years. Some wisdom and/or advice has become a staple in our home, and other advice has not. It didn’t make the advice wrong necessarily. The advice usually just didn’t work for myself or for our family. So, this blog is geared towards giving you something that works for me, and if it works for your family then that is great too!

Well, I am not sure if this is a tip or a recipe or maybe a little of both.  Whichever it is, I wanted to share it with you.

Our family went recently to Red Robin to eat, and my family just went crazy over their Campfire Fry Sauce.  It is a sauce that you dip your french fries into.  It is smoky yet sweet, and super yummy.

The more I tasted the sauce the more I wondered if I could recreate it on my own.  I make my own tartar sauce so why not fry sauce.  I could tell it had a tomato base which probably was ketchup.  I could taste the smoky flavor which I knew was liquid smoke.  It was creamy too which was probably mayonnaise or some type of oil.

The next time we had french fries I gave it a whirl.  What did I have to lose?  There were only a few drops left of the fry sauce by the end of the meal so I think it came out pretty well.  This is what I used.

BBQ sauce
Liquid Smoke
Steak Seasoning (I use Saltgrass Steak Seasoning)

Mix together equal parts (a large, heaping tablespoonful) of ketchup, mayo, and bbq sauce.  I recommend a smoky bbq sauce as opposed to a sweet one.  Then add a small splash of Liquid Smoke.  A little goes a long way with Liquid Smoke.  Add salt, pepper, and steak seasoning to taste.  Taste test your creation using a french fry and adjust your seasonings accordingly, if needed.

It is not an exact match to Red Robin, but considering the fact it gets eaten up every time I make it with fries, it is good enough for me.
