How To Make Crayon Cupcakes

It’s tip time!

It is a dilemma of most moms.  What do you do with all of those old crayons?  Some are broken.  Some are missing the wrapper.  Some are just little nubs.  I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time just wasting things.
You can use them to make crayon cupcakes.  These are not edible cupcakes, but a great way to use up your old crayons to make fun new ones.

Here is how you do it.

First, line a muffin tin with baking cup liners.  I like to use the foil liners, because I think the liners peel off easily.
Peel any paper wrappers off of the crayons you are going to use.  Use your imagination and place crayon pieces in each baking cup liner.  We made some autumn ones and some red and green ones for Christmas. My baby girl had to make an all pink one.  Your imagination is the only limit here.
Cook in the oven at 500 degrees for 15 minutes or until the crayons are melted.  If you are doing this as an activity with your child, this part is what I call “a Mommy job”.  This oven is smoking hot and too hot for a child to do this part.
Take out of the oven and let cool for an hour.  Make sure to not peel off the liner until the crayons are completely cooled.
Voila, crayon cupcakes.  These can make great gifts.  They can also be done at a birthday party or as a playgroup project with each child going home with their own crayon(s) that they made themselves.

Have fun creating and happy coloring!

Blessings,

Andrea
